A Reborn doll drying rack is one of the handy tools for creating reborn dolls. The rack is made from timber and is portable enough to carry to classes. This rack, as shown, was made by Lyn especially for me for the dolls I am still at the painting stage with. This particular rack will hold two doll’s parts of a head, two arms and two legs. I am often seen carrying a rack with at least one head on it while I am rooting its hair. Normally, however, the dolls themselves travel in pillow cases.
This is a prototype only, although I am using it for my own dolls. We are looking into making them available for any reborn doll artists to purchase them in the future. Single drying racks will also be available as a special order for purchase in due course. The double drying racks will be added to our shop in due course.
There are different stages in creating reborn dolls for the babies to look life-like. The longest stage is the painting. This can take months to complete. As you add layer after layer after layer you are able to watch the veins etc. appear in the vinyl. I find it quite exciting.
